EVENT DETAILS
Prostate cancer is the most common male cancer and the number two cancer killer of men.
In 2011, there were 240,890 new cases of prostate cancer. More new prostate cancer cases than prostate cancer. Since 2008, the annual number of new prostate cancer cases has increased by 29.3%! One in six men will have prostate cancer; one in four for African American men.
Since 2008, the annual breast cancer death rate has decreased by 2.3% while the annual prostate cancer death rate has increased by 17.7%. We need to do for prostate cancer what we have done for breast cancer.
http://eepurl.com/h6fI2The 2012 PCAP Prostate Cancer Pony Express is a motorcyle relay ride through all 50 US states to raise awareness for prostate cancer and funds to support free screening programs.
The ceremonial beginning of the ride is in Manhattan Beach, California, on March 9, 2012, at the San Pedro offices of Representative Janice Hahn. The actual ride begins at Bike Week in Daytona Beach, Florida on March 17, 2012, and travels through all 50 states, ending in Washington, DC on Sunday, September 9th, coinciding with the annual prostate cancer summit hosted by Zero, the Project to End Cancer.
Our Prostate Cancer Pony Express riders will be carrying saddlebags with the names of prostate cancer vicitims and survivors for presentation to Congress.
Full event details are located on the event blogsite at http://prostatecancerponyexpress.wordpress.com.
